Happy Father's Day!

I thought I'd make Dad's first Father's Day quite memorable by gouging out his eye. This was a tougher task than I thought. I had to give up and let him keep his sight.

My dad's a good-natured guy. He laughed this off, and then I think we went on a fun hike or something. I fell asleep soon after.
Now that it's summer in PT and the sun heats up the water in our garden hose, my parents got me a little pool for the back patio. It's perfect for splashing, and there's room in it for me and Dad as long as he stands up.
Can you believe a little girl at the park said I looked like a farmer when I wore this outfit? But Dad said I looked as cute as an Amish button, and that made me feel better. Gee, I'm sure lucky to have my dad for a dad.

Me & Mom

Me and Mom have been having some great times lately. One of our favorite times of day is late morning, when we tickle and cuddle in bed.
This is after I've been up for a while with Dad, then he brings me back to bed (around 8 a.m.) where Mom is sleeping, and I have another nurse, and then we both get up -- or sometimes I fall back asleep and we snooze for another hour or so.
Usually at some point during the day Mom straps me on her back in the Ergo carrier and we take a walk. Sometimes through the woods, sometimes to the post office or downtown.
Lately we've been hanging out on this new double cedar bench that Mom got for a Mother's Day present.
It's found a home on our patio, next to the hammock and my swing.
Swinging is one of my favorite things, as you can tell. This is another swingset at a great park in Anacortes, where my grandparents live.
Whee! Thanks for the push, Mom. Love you!

...But Crawling Is Harder!

See explanation in the following post and click on the video below.

Walking is Still Tricky...

Even though walking is tricky, I still say crawling is harder.

Parental note: Here are two videos, 46 and 23 seconds long respectively, both shot on May 30. In the two weeks ensuing, he's figured out crawling quite a bit better, but thankfully is cautious with edges (of stairs, beds, etc.) and his modified three-legged scoot is not that fast! On the standing side, he's pulling himself up on anything over 20 inches tall and "cruising" from handhold to handhold with studied ease. I had a shock the first time I looked down and realized he'd pulled himself up on my pant leg!

Baring My Beach Bum

Finally, on one of these really hot days we've been having, a light bulb went off for my parents, and they took me to the beach. What were we waiting for?? It was one of the best days of my life. I mean, sand, sun and a bare bum -- what could be better?!
The sand flats below Chetzemoka Park were exposed at one of the lowest tides of the year (minus 3.5 feet below the mean), and there was a 2-inch-deep pool warmed by the sun that was perfect for sitting and splashing in.
Mmmm, the silty sand felt so silky smooth, and there were fun eelgrass ribbons to wave around.
Good thing my sunscreen is waterproof. Let's just say Mom was wiping sand out of my ears for the rest of the week.
Did I mention we can walk to this beach from our house in about five minutes? That means there is NO EXCUSE for not going often. I gotta start learning to build those things I've heard about called sand castles...

(Thanks to Auntie Nora for taking these great pictures!)
